About ERRIN
The European Return and Reintegration Network is an initiative of 16 European states that helps to ensure that people on the move can return home in a dignified and humane manner. ERRIN is working with local organisations on the ground in 40 countries, offering comprehensive assistance for returning migrants. Following the initial aid provided right upon arrival, the reintegration support may involve support for housing, medical treatment, vocational training and educational needs, or setting up a business.
About Caritas
In The Gambia, we work with Caritas. The Catholic Development Office (CaDO) – or Caritas Gambia – was established in 2001. With its main office in Serrekunda, CaDO implements projects across the country through seven sub-offices and 22 parishes. It primary activities revolve around health, HIV/AIDS care and support, malaria prevention, water and sanitation, emergency relief and peace building. CaDO seeks to maximise community capacity building by encouraging local initiatives, in particular those focused on vulnerable groups, including women, youth and children. Caritas International Belgium (CIB) is a non-governmental organisation and works in close cooperation with Caritas Gambia to provide assistance to returnees from the different ERRIN partner countries. CIB has been implementing the national government programme in the field of voluntary return as a service provider worldwide since 2007.
