Eyes on Pakistan: Shah

Shah lives with his wife and five children at his family’s house in Peshawar. Capitalising on his prior experience in running a fruit and vegetable store, this was the kind of activity he opted for after returning to Pakistan from Europe. See how ERRIN and our local partner WELDO supported him in the process.

Shah set of on a strenuous journey to Europe following a friend’s advice, who had talked him into trying the opportunity to build a better future abroad. After months spent in the Calais jungle and a few unsuccessful attempts to cross to the UK, the man decided to apply for a voluntary return in December 2020. After a couple of reintegration meetings with WELDO, he successfully launched a fruit and vegetable store in partnership with a friend. Shah says is now making enough money with his business and is able to support his family in the best possible way.
