Shah lives with his wife and five children at his family’s house in Peshawar. Capitalising on his prior experience in running a fruit and vegetable store, this was the kind of activity he opted for after returning to Pakistan from Europe. Shah set of on a strenuous journey to Europe following a friend’s advice, who had talked him into trying the opportunity to build a better future abroad. After months spent in the Calais jungle and a few unsuccessful attempts to cross to the UK, the man decided to apply for a voluntary return in December 2020. After a couple of reintegration meetings with WELDO, he successfully launched a fruit and vegetable store in partnership with a friend. Shah says is now making enough money with his business and is able to support his family in the best possible way.
